I'm vegan so I made uding flax eggs. I also used 1/4 c of chips, not a half. I added extra oil to help with the moisture that was obvious before going in the oven. It seemed like it wasn't cooked when baked til the suggested time so I left in longer by a few minutes. I took out and waited for it to firm a bit more. It was awful. It had moments of chocolate but it was mostly just dry and nutty/poorly balanced flavor.
This recipe sounds delicious, but is certainly not the dessert I have made for years. A friend who worked at Irelands Restuarant in Tallahassee FL brought home something simpler and much richer, using unsweetened chocolate, butter, eggs, sugar, and very little flour, with no chocolate chips or nuts. The only problem was whittling the recipe down without comprome: five eggs cannot be readily reduced :-) This recipe is closer to the one I have: http://therecipeplace.blogspot.com/2010/01/irelands-fudge-pie.html
