Kelly's Sweet Broccoli Salad

"After searching and searching through recipes trying to find one like how I make, I finally gave up and decided to go ahead and post my own. I make mine nice and sweet, and it always disappears FAST wherever I take it!"

  • Chop fresh broccoli (flowerets only) into small pieces, place into medium-sized bowl.
  • Add in rest of salad ingredients, *holding back and reserving 1/4 cup of the bacon crumbles, and toss to mix.
  • In small bowl, whisk together sauce ingredients until sugar dissolves and mixture is syrupy and smooth.
  • Pour/spoon over salad ingredients, and fold to mix and coat well.
  • Chill, restir, garnish with reserved bacon and serve.

  1. I made this without the onion and added a can of drained and rinsed chick peas. This was absolutely awesome!!! It was the first thing to disappear on superbowl sunday. Thanks for posting another great keeper recipe !!!
     
  2. Normally, I don't like a "sweet" dressing. This is the exception to the rule. I think it works very well because of the addition of the sunflower seeds. I also used Bacon Bits, because I didn't want the extra grease in this. A great summertime salad. Thnx for posting, Flour! Made for Comfort Cafe Summer 2009.
     
  3. I made this to go with our Easter dinner. It was a huge hit with us, and one I will make often throughout the summer. I may trade off some craisins for the raisins for a change some of the time!
