Joe's Hot Pants Burgers

"My take on a really great burger served at Sanford's Grub and Pub in Casper, WY. The blue cheese sauce I refer to is posted in my recipes. This burger recipe is easily adjustable to taste in hotness and the strength of the cheese sauce. A real key to this recipe is not over cooking the burgers because of the quality of the meat. Other burger toppings are optional, but please take a bite before adding them. You might find out they are not necessary. My family really enjoys this one. Times do not include cooking bacon or preparing sauces."

directions

  • Form meat into 6 thick burgers and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Grill over medium heat. Do not over cook meat. Should be slightly pink and moist when done.
  • While burgers are cooking, slightly brown buns.
  • Place a burger on each bun.
  • Top each with hot sauce and blue cheese sauce to taste.
  • Add sliced onion and/or tomato - optional.
  • Place 1 and 1/2 slices of bacon on each and serve with a pickle on the side.
  • NOTE: I have since started adding 1 1/2 tablespoons of Frank's Hot Sauce to the Blue Cheese Sauce. Saves making the hot sauce and cuts out the butter.

Passions: My family (have 4 grandsons), standing next to my grill at the lake on a warm summer day with a beer or 3 in my hand, and the Montana Grizzlies football team. Pet peeves: Whining professional athletes' salaries, boaters who run across my fishing line while I'm trolling, and women who insist on driving while I'm behind the wheel (not you sweetheart, you make critical navigational observations).
