- 3⁄4 cup flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup sugar (or more if desired, for a sweeter taste)
- 1⁄3 cup Crisco shortening
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1⁄3 - 1⁄2 cup Jack Daniels Whiskey (or more or less to suit taste)

GLAZE
- 1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter

- Set oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 9-inch square pan In a bowl, sift together, flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, shortening and water; cook over low heat to a light boil. Add in chocolate chips and vanilla; stir until smooth. Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add in flour mixture and nuts; stir well.
- Transfer mixture to a prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove from pan; sprinkle with Jack Daniels Cool; top with chocolate glaze.
- FOR GLAZE: Melt the chocolate chips with butter on top of a double boiler or in the microwave; stir until smooth. Spread over brownies.
