directions

  • Mix all ingredients and let stand at least one hour in refrigerator (better if overnight). You will want to use container for salad dressing so the garlic does not fall out.
  • Sprinkle salads with garlic powder before using dressing.

  1. I love the amount of mustard powder and lack of sugar in this recipe. The powder made it almost "creamy" which was a nice surprise. Definitely one of the best dressings out there. It seems like one of those recipes that an Italian grandma would make, simple but with a secret (the mustard powder). Thank you.

  2. What a truly lovely dressing happynana. We enjoyed it very much. I used corn oil, a good quality red wine vinegar and made the recipe exactly as written, I wouldn't change a thing. I made it Saturday and served it on Sunday with a very simple salad. The great flavor really comes together with the additional chilling time. Thanks so much for sharing.

  3. Simple, but wonderful dressing! I used good quality red wine (zinfandel) vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and I think that makes a huge difference. I used only 1/2 tsp of salt, and did let this sit overnight. I loved it, the flavors were very balanced.

  4. So simple! I think because I had to replace fresh garlic cloves with jarred minced and canola oil with extra-virgin olive oil, this didn't come out right. It was very rich from the oil. Bf preferred bottled Italian dressing and I just can't figure out specifically if I screwed up by substituting what I had on hand. No fault of happynana's, I think the recipe itself is beautiful and economical. I sprinkled my salad with a bit of garlic powder also. The vamps will stay away from me tonight. :P Thanks for sharing happynana, I will keep this on hand and try it again. I'd only made half the recipe. It's been in the fridge for 10 hours so I'm going to see how it is tomorrow. :) Made and reviewed for Aussie/NZ Recipe Swap #14.

I am a real estate agent along with my husband, Mike. I enjoy meeting people and helping them sell or find a home. I have been happily married for 27 years. We have 1 daugther and 3 grandsons. My favorite recipes are from Paula Deen. I love to cook and eat -- that is why I workout 5 to 6 times a week. I enjoy Bible study, cooking, working out at the gym and reading. My husband and I love spending time with our grandsons who live about 45 miles from us. We are quick to give Our Heavenly Father credit for all the wonderful blessings in our life. My pet peeves are greed and people who are always late. I love this site and it is so much fun. I have met many nice chefs while participating in the contests. I think it is unfair when chefs change an original recipe and then give a low rating. The way I will rate recipes: 5***** Delicious Recipes that we enjoyed and will want to have again and again. 4****Recipes that I would make again but make some changes. 3***Recipes that I would probably not try again without some major changes. I will not give a 1 or 2 rating as I know that the chefs that took time to enter the recipe felt it was deserving to share. I just have different tastes than them. <a href="http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/?action=view¤t=curriedcurrajongs.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/curriedcurrajongs.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/boronia.jpg"><img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z205/jubespage/AussieRecipeSwap.gif"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PAC08Main.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/Cooking-Kangaroo-1-1.jpg"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PACfall08partic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/IWasAdoptedfall08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/7016b640.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e110/flower753/Food/my3chefsnov2008.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/AMpageSticker.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/CookathonforKarensticker.jpg"><img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/KBparticipation.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"><img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/TagRed-STKR.jpg"><img src=http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii31/bleupantry/RecipeZaar%20and%20other%20Food/Top%20Favs%20of%202008%20GAME/ParticipationBanner.jpg><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"><img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"><img src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2/kiwidutch/my3chefs2009final-1.jpg">
