Hawaiian Loco Moco (Hearty Breakfast)

"Loco Moco is Hawaii's original homemade fast food and can be found at just about any fast food joint, roadside diner, mom and pop restaurant or lunch wagon in the Islands. There are many different versions of Loco Moco but they have 4 basic ingredients. Rice, a beef patty, sunny-side up egg and gravy. This is for 1 serving so you might want to share - it's a HUGE dish! The cooking time varies depending on if you have to make the rice or gravy from scratch. Enjoy!"

 1. My grandson was here today and it's his birthday. The birthday person gets to pick the menu for the day and he was thrilled to hear that we were visiting the Pacific Islands this tour. Before I could even give him choices - he requested Loco Moco, lol.

He was in heaven chowing down on this and kept thanking me for his favorite Hawaiian meal. Thanks Nif for making me look like a hero today! This was a good, easy, and authentic lunch plate. Made for ZWT7 for the Emerald City Shakers.

 2. This was VERY hearty! I used the recipe and fed three people(used three eggs). I was not sure I would like the gravy on it, but it was actually very good. I used leftover rice and canned gravy. I highly recommend cooking the egg sunny side up at over easy at the most, it really adds to the dish that way. Made for ZWT 7.

 3. First of all, throwing a handful of pineapple and/or coconut at it does not automatically turn a common every day recipe into a Hawaiian recipe. Loco moco is a true Hawaiian recipe, so is Hawaiian macaroni salad, and there is no pineapple or coconu in them! Second of all, could you PLEASE call them vegetables? Veggies make you sound like a 6 year old!

 4. Have had this many a time on the Islands, as well as in California. Super simple and super good! It's very filling, and this recipe for "1" couldn't be finished by two of us! I followed recipe exactly, except instead of a bowl, I served on a plate in order to catch a better photo! Thanks for posting! Made for Team IncrEdibles, SWT 2018.

 5. Had never heard of this before, but now I'm a believer. Certainly hearty, and all the things we like, once you get started pretty easy too, we had left over rice from dinner so just warmed that, grilled the beef (though we did add some peppers to the mix) then made gravy while the eggs were cooking. Topped with hot sauce, Oh my so good, will be making this a LOT

I love great food and I particularly like trying cuisines new to me! Although I don't prepare as much food as I used to, creating in my kitchen is still one of my favourite things to do. Enjoy!
