I made this as a ham and cheese melt and we enjoyed. Poppy seeds were great as was swiss cheese, used dinner ham, diced. The butter scared me away from adding any at all and I just buttered the crusty buns I had. And that was enough butter! the mix, however, didn't hold together which didn't affect the taste of course just the handling. Would let it bake for longer next time just to get it piping hot.

Good- but just too much butter for our tastes. I think it would be just as good with just 1/2 stick instead of a whole stick. Three of the 5 of us liked it, which means it's now an option for dinner! Definitely 8 buns- I've seen other recipes that called for a package of 24 dinner rolls, cut in half- stuff-bake- for a luncheon, appetizer type thing.
