"I found this great recipe at Detroit Free Press, submitted by Susan Selasky. The ingredients are ones that are typically available is most kitchens and the flavor really bursts from this economical cut of meat."

directions

  • Place steak in a plastic sealable bag.
  • In a small glass; wisk together the remaining ingredients. Pour over the steak and marinate at least 1 hour or up to 8 hours
  • Let meat set at room temperature for at least one hour prior to grilling.
  • Remove meat from the marinade and discard marinade.
  • Place steak on heated grill, cook about 5 minutes. You can rotate the steak about 45 degrees to create grill cross-hatch marks.
  • Turn the steak over and move to a slightly cooler part of the grill and continue grilling about 4 minutes. Be careful not to overcook.
  • Thinly slice the steak across the grain.

  1. Fast, easy AND delicious! Great for a Sunday dinner when everyone is hungry and you want something nice...fast. Could possibly substitute Italian salad dressing for the oil and salad seasoning. Will definitely make this more often.

  2. I first placed it on a hot grill to sear both sides. Then cooked in convection oven 200F for 10 minutes. Tender, juicy & medium rare. Very pleased with results!

  3. I follow this recipe exactly and I am a very good cook. This recipe is very bland and I would never make it again. How these people that gave it five stars I have no clue. It's ashame that I wasted such a nice piece of meat on this recipe.

  4. We eat a good amount of flank steak, and this recipe is the best and simplest we've come across! We have 5 children age 11 and under, and with the exception of the very pickiest of them, they all raved about it. The steak comes out tender and the flavors are subtle but delicious.

  5. Used this recipe to inaugurate our new gas grill! Thanks so much--it was delicious. Our flat iron steak was a big larger (2 lbs.) so we had to cook it a little longer to get to medium-rare but the marinade amount was still plenty. It was so nice to hear DH oohing and ahhing through dinner!
