Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cake

"The smell of this baking makes me think back to afternoons in my Grandma's kitchen. Don't skip the homemade icing. Store bought icing has no place on this cake!"

  • Combine all dry ingredients.
  • Add rest of ingredients and mix on slow speed for 1 minute. Mix on hish speed for 3 minutes. Pour batter into 13 x 9 9 2 inch pan and bake for 40- 45 minutes in 350 degree oven. Cool completely prior to frosting.
  • Combine all frosting ingredients and spread over cooled cake.

  1. Pretty good cake, but my chocolate chips sunk to the bottom. Easily converted to gluten free using my favorite GF flour mix and adding 2 T of ground flax seed. I also used buttermilk in place of the milk. Will make this again and trying sprinkling the chocolate chips over the top of the batter and gently stirring them in right before I put the cake in the oven. Thanks for sharing.
