Fried Green Beans - the Neelys
"This recipe is from DOWN HOME WITH THE NEELYS. I had to try this recipe. I served it to some co-workers who thought I was crazy for frying string beans. It very good and crunchy."

- peanut oil, for frying
- 1 cup beer
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt, plus more for seasoning
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper, plus more for seasoning
- 1 lb green beans, ends trimmed
directions
- Preheat oil to 375 degrees F.
- Whisk the beer,flour, salt and pepper until smooth.
- Dip green beans into batter to coat, letting excess drip off. Fry in the peanut oil in batches, until they are golden and crisp. Remove from oil with a spider strainer to a paper towel lined sheet tray. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- NOTE: I like to dip with homemade wasabi mayo.

Wow! Better than Schwan's Green Bean Fries that are dipped in batter and baked. We dipped in chili sauce and ranch dressing. Great recipe! -
These were great! I couldn't stop eating them. Actually very quick to make, and hard to mess up. My kind of recipe!

I am a retired school teacher and live in Hemingway, South Carolina, which is about 40 miles from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I taught Family and Consumer Sciences(formerly,Home Economics). I now work at the Boys & Girls Club of America here in my hometown. I also am a substitute teacher. Once a teacher, always a teacher. <BR><BR>I enjoy cooking, especially for friends and family. I even prepare meals for my co-workers and take to work. They really enjoy them. Some foods I prepare, they have never had. My biggest meal of the year is at Christmas. Since I am not married and no children, my mother (since my father passed in 2003) and brother and his family comes for Christmas dinner. He has 8 children (whom are all grown up) and 7 grandchildren.
