Fried Barley

"I really like barley, but you don't really find a lot of different ways to prepare it. Saw this and had to post before I lost it!"

  • Melt the butter in a frying pan and sauté the onion until lightly browned, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the cooked barley (cook according to package directions), salt and pepper. Fry until the butter is absorbed, about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  1. This is great! I actually turned it into an Asian-style fried barley, adding in a couple Tbsp. of soy sauce at the end. Went great with teriyaki pork and asparagus. Thanks for posting!
     
  2. Very yummy! I used only 3 T. of butter, and it was still great. I bet this would be good with other grains, too. Thanks for the inspiration.
