ingredients
- 4 slices crusty bread
- 3 tablespoons butter, room-temperature
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
directions
- Mix together butter and seasonings.
- Spread on 4 slices of baguette.
- Broil until toasted (about 2 to 3 minutes).

We decided while making this that it was intended to use a fatter French loaf than the thin baguette we used, or else to be sliced the long way. We got a plate of bite-sized appetizers which, nevertheless, were delicious and disappeared in minutes. Recommended the way we did it as hors-d'ouvres or in larger slices as a side to steak or pasta. Made for Holiday Tag Nov. 2008.
