Easy, Real Tartar Sauce

"I was astounded that not one recipe for tartar sauce on 'zaar actually contained cream of tartar. This is a basic version; add anything you like in your tartar sauce to the base, such as lemon juice, capers, or dill. Tartar sauce is great with just about any fried fish dish."

NOPE. Cream of Tartar and "Tartar sauce" are two different things with the word throwing things askew. The former is not used to make the latter any more than canines are used in the making of "hot dogs".

I have made tartar sauce with cream of tartar for years! I found this recipe because I was looking to see if anyone else uses this ingredient. Cream of Tartar adds a tang. It is also fantastic in mashed potatoes! (not tooo much, though. Maybe 1/2 t. or less)

At what point did you decide that notwithstanding specifying the use of a shop bought imitation mayonnaise you could still use the title "Real" ?
