BROWNIE BATTER
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1⁄2 cups pecans

FROSTING
- 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 lb confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1⁄2 cups pecans

- TO MAKE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- Melt margarine, cocoa and water. Bring to a hard, rapid boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix. Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and pecans. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or tuntil a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- TO MAKE FROSTING: Bring to a boil butter, cocoa and buttermilk. Add and beat confectioners sugar, vanilla extract and pecans. Spread on top of the warm brownies in pan. Cool in refrigerator.

What a nice brownie recipe that gives a cake like moist texture that just melts in your mouth with each bite. I skipped on the frosting as I used these for our packed lunches but truly they are so yummy that I know either way you'll be pleased trying out this recipe.
