This is almost identical to a recipe I use that is baked in the oven for 2 and a half hours. Doing it in the crockpot would be so much more convenient. Would I have to thicken the liquids or is it the consistency of gravy like it is when done in the oven.

I did switch it up a little, but I think it would be great as posted. I used beef broth instead of cream of mushroom soup. I ALWAYS use fresh mushrooms when I can, because the flavor just isn't the same with canned. Great with garlic mashed potatoes or noodles. YUMMY and smells GREAT cooking! Thanks. I will post a pic when I can..I just got a new camera :)

I really enjoyed this. Made as directed except I used extra wine. I thickened up the gravy with flour and served over egg noodles with a side of steamed veggies. Thanks Babzy for a recipe that works for me and my schedule.

Very good and easy -- great meal to come home to (pure comfort food!). I didn't have any onion soup mix so I threw in one beef bouillion cube, some thyme and pepper and some extra water -- should have skipped the extra water as there was too much liquid -- my fault! Made for Zaar World Tour 5/France.
