Diablo Butter

"Flavoured butters captured my attention during ZWT (along w/many other ZWT players), so here's another for all of us to try. My source here is the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. This butter was suggested as a dipping sauce for crab legs, but would also work well for cajun-style grilled shrimp as a dipping sauce or even drizzled over lime-marinated shrimp ceviche. I suspect I've just begun to explore the options. Enjoy!"

  1. I did this two ways, as posed and with a bit of added sautéed garlic. My son loved the first one with ciabatti bread, but really loved the addition of garlic. We enjoyed shrimp and bread with that one. Thanks for sharing! Made for FYC tag game on yuku!

  2. Yum. This was soooo simple and good. I served this as a dipping sauce for shrimp and both my grandson and I enjoyed it. Congrats again on your Conference Football win twissis!

  3. This has a decent flavor and is not overly spicy. I did find it a bit difficult to mix the ingredients--the mustard kept trying to separate out. I served this with potatoes, but it would be good with seafood as well. Thanks for posting!

  4. Hail to twissis~and another score for a lip-smacking way to douse your shrimp and make it taste even more spectacular. Why don't I think of these things? All the uniqueness of each ingredient mellows and flows together for this "oh yum!" taste sensation. I did serve this with steamed Maryland shrimp, (I also steam onions with the shrimp) and added my personal favorite hot sauce, (El Yucateco hot sauce - red) sat cross legged on the floor and ate, (along with my husband) about 1 1/2 lbs. of shrimp. Flavored butter, who'd a thought? Thanks twissis for my first, flavored butter that is!

  5. Excellent butter, so tasty. I used more mustard and 5 drops of hot pepper sauce. I had it with boiled potatoes, broccoli and shrimps. It was great with everything but with shrimps was the best. It nother keeper from twissis! Thanks!

I am an American transplanted from Dallas to Iceland by marriage to a native Icelander & I retired to become his "Kitchen Queen". We love to entertain our family & friends, so I have an eclectic collection of recipes. I especially love simple, easy-fix, flexible & make-ahead recipes - BUT also like challenging myself on occasion. I enjoy baking & food photography. I am devoted to the "More is Always Better Principle" & apply it liberally to bacon, butter & garlic. I can have ingredient issues due to availability here in Iceland & my DH is medically diet-restricted from some ingredients as well. Either situation might require me to modify a recipe, but I will do my best to be true to your recipes & fair/honest in my reviews. Mary Pat (aka twissis)
