Delicious Coffee Cake

"This is a great moist coffee cake. It doesn't last long."

• Serves: 24

ingredients

• 1⁄2 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup sour cream
• 2 cups apples, chopped

• Topping

• 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1⁄2 cup nuts, chopped

directions

1. Cream shortening and sugar.
2. Add eggs and vanilla.
3. Combine dry ingredients.
4. Add dry ingredients to mixture with sour cream.
5. Fold in apples.
6. Spread into a 9x13 pan.
7. Mix topping ingredients together and spread over the coffee cake.
8. Bake at 350ºF. for 35 to 40 minutes.

My dh said this is a great cake. had no apples so used some apple sauce.It seemed to work. Thanks, talldoc
