Date Nut Bars

"This is a family recipe but I am not sure where it came from. I love dates, so this is a favorite of mine for holidays (and it is easy)."

  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Bake in greased layer cake pans or square pans at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • Cool for 15 minutes.
  • Slice into squares and roll bars in confectioner's sugar so they don't stick together when stored.

  1. Perfect for the date lover! I used a 9x9 square pan and patted the thick dough into it. I was wondering how they would turn out without any butter or shortening but they were great. Nice and chewy and something like a cross between a bar cookie and a candy. I can't wait to share them with my grandmother!
