  1. Does this icing harden enough to mail? I'd like to use something other than royal icing for shipping Thanks

  1. I am not a fan of shortening in icing, but this icing is excellent! I did not use this cookie recipe as I have another (will be trying that recipe out another time), but was looking for a new icing recipe and stumbled across this one. Unless someone can show me a better buttercream icing, this is going to be my staple. It has a wonderful consistancy and spreads so nicely onto the cookie. If you are looking for an icing recipe, TRY THIS ONE...you will love it!

  2. These were very good! I will use again but marked off one star for a couple things. #1. Makes way more than 10-12 cutouts and mine were thick. I trippled the batch and now have cookies everywhere! I also am an icing lover so you may want more icing per batch of cookies too. For all 3 batches of cookies, I'm going to end up with between 4.5-5 batches of icing to cover them all. Finally, be sure the cookies cook long enough to be a little brown on the bottom as they just didn't seem to get done after 5 minutes. That all being said as tips, love it, i'm excited to hear what my mom the sugar cookie queen says this weekend!

  3. These came out absolutely perfectly! They were perfectly thick and white with a slight golden on the bottom. It took me about 6 minutes to bake these cookies, and I just used store-bought icing. Thank you so much for posting this recipe, it's definitely the one I am going to use for now on!

  4. Let me first state that I am an iced-sugar cookie connoisseur. These were delicious! I used vanilla and almond extract in the frosting (and butter flavored shortening), and my cookies took about 9 minutes to cook. I am replacing my old recipe with this one! Thanks so much for posting!!
