I am not a fan of shortening in icing, but this icing is excellent! I did not use this cookie recipe as I have another (will be trying that recipe out another time), but was looking for a new icing recipe and stumbled across this one. Unless someone can show me a better buttercream icing, this is going to be my staple. It has a wonderful consistancy and spreads so nicely onto the cookie. If you are looking for an icing recipe, TRY THIS ONE...you will love it!
These were very good! I will use again but marked off one star for a couple things. #1. Makes way more than 10-12 cutouts and mine were thick. I trippled the batch and now have cookies everywhere! I also am an icing lover so you may want more icing per batch of cookies too. For all 3 batches of cookies, I'm going to end up with between 4.5-5 batches of icing to cover them all. Finally, be sure the cookies cook long enough to be a little brown on the bottom as they just didn't seem to get done after 5 minutes. That all being said as tips, love it, i'm excited to hear what my mom the sugar cookie queen says this weekend!

I love to try new recipes, and this is a wonderful site to find new additions. I rarely make the same thing twice because it's so much fun to try something different. My life long dream is to travel the world and eat my way around it.
