Crunchy Baked Chicken

"A recipe I found at Taste of Home.com. I have tried a number of oven fried chicken recipes and this one sounds very good, so posting it to try. Here is what is stated in the recipe intro: I’ve fixed this dish many times for company, and I’ve never had anyone fail to ask for the recipe. The leftovers—if there are any—are very good heated up in the microwave."

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk egg and milk. In another shallow bowl, combine the onions, cheese, bread crumbs, paprika, salt and pepper. Dip chicken in egg mixture, then roll in onion mixture.
  • Place in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Drizzle with butter. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 50-60 minutes or until juices run clear.

  1. This chicken is so moist and delicious! I cut it down to one serving, and made a gigantic chicken breast. It was so big I ate it for two meals! The onion/cheese coating was wonderful together, and crisped up nicely in the oven. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe. Made for Newest tag game.
     
  2. Absolutely delish! Made this chicken tonight for dinner and DH loved it. It turned out really moist and we loved the combination of the FF onion rings and parmesan cheese. Will keep this recipe handy to make again very soon. Made for the Football Pool, Week 7.
     
  3. The family LOVED it! We used chicken legs. It coated all 12 legs almost exactly.

I scaled this back for 3 and used 3 Maryland cuts (thigh and drumstick/leg intac weighing just a fraction untion 1K) and for the French-fried onions which we do not get here in Australiua I used 3oz's from a packet of french fries (crisps but shaped liked fries) and added some onion powder and blitzed everything in the mini food processor for the coating to a chicken which was super crunchy, flavoursome and oh so moist and the bone was just falling off and was oh so thouroughly enjoyed, baked at 175C fan fored for 1 hour, thank you diner 524, made for Everyday A holiday tag game.

I don't like to cook things that require going to specialized grocery stores. I subscribe to several cooking magazines, that usually, require everyday on-hand ingredients. <br /><br />I am not very fond of most seafood, but do enjoy lobster, grilled shrimp and chilean sea bass. I won't cook anything with rosemary or curry, as I really don't like either herbs' flavor.
