So tasty! I did make a few changes though. I didn't use the tomato sauce as listed but used 1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes. I also put some oregano, garlic powder, 4 cloves of garlic and black pepper in it to give more flavour and used 2 steaks. What a nice meal to come home to! The potatoes and carrots weren't mushy at all and were cooked perfectly!

I'm not rating this recipe, because I can't rate it fairly, and I want to add my variations, which are pretty few. I was lazy not to have taken the time to say "make the potatoes separately", add some Worcestershire, try cubed steak. This recipe, in itself, is great, and I hope those who try it will love it. So much to love! Swiss Steak is a super delicious recipe, and particularly easy when cooked in the crock pot or slow cooker, or whatever you want to call it. The first time I had slow cooker swiss steak was 30 years, when a friend made it, and it only included tomato juice, some s&p, and some sugar. It was great back then and I'm sure I'd love it now. But I love the changes and additions I've seen since then, which I have incorporated in the way I make it now. I'll brown my floured cube steak in oil. I'll add sliced onions on the bottom of my crock pot. I'll put the the browned cube steaks on top. ( guess those tiny carrots might be good too!) I'll mix some diced (fire roasted) tomatoes, mixed with a small can of tomato sauce and some Worcestershire sauce, then pour over the steak and onions. I'll cook on low in the crockpot for 7-8 hours, and serve over mashed potatoes. I cook on the fly, and incorporate all the good things I find in my search for recipes. This is a great recipe, and I'd have to recommend it to anyone as a great starting place for Swiss Steak!

My husband and I moved to Las Vegas after retirement in 2000. We lived in South Bend, IN for about 26 years. We both like to travel and we have taken up RV camping and enjoy it a lot. Most of our camping is done in Nevada Utah Arizona and So. California. During the summers our (almost) 9 year old Granddaughter will go with us sometimes. Our Daughter, Son-in-law, and Granddaughter have lived in Las Vegas since January 2001.
