Crock Pot Golden Chicken and Noodles

"This is a quick and easy crock pot recipe to put together. My children really enjoy this recipe. I adapted this from Quick Cooking."

directions

  • Place chicken in crock pot.
  • Combine the soup, milk, onion, salt, basil and pepper and pour over chicken.
  • Cover and cook on high for 1 hour.
  • Reduce heat to low and continue to cook 5-6 hours longer or until the meat juices run clear.
  • Serve over noodles.

  1. I really enjoyed this meal and it was even better the second day for lunch. I followed the directions exactly, but used only 4 breast instead of 6. I served this over egg noodles and even my hubby who hates chicken ate this dish. Thanks for posting - I will make again.
     
  2. Excellent crock pot recipe. Reduced the milk to 1 cup and omitted the salt. Will definitely make again. It doesn't get easier than this!
     
  3. I too felt that this could have used a bit more flavor. I took Annacia's advice and cut back on the milk. I only used 1 c as I always put my chicken in frozen, and that makes the sauces a bit runnier in my opinion. Overall, very good easy meal. Thanks for posting. Made for 123 wonders game.
     
  4. I made this recipe on 6/14/10. Since there are just two of us the recipe was adjusted as follows, two very large chicken breast halves were used.Which were cut into chunks and browned with the small onion in about 2 Tablespoons of margarine. ( just for a bit of color ) 1 can of soup was used along with just enough milk to make the soup pourable. Cooked on high for about 1/2 hour and on low for for about 3 hours.Now since this was made to go in the freezer, the noodles aren't going to be cooked until later.( after I cook the noodles, I'll post a photo ) But, I did taste it and thought it was very good.   5. Unfortunately, nobody liked this at all. The chicken was way too dry inside and the sauce was very watery. Thanks for sharing, but I wont' be making this again....

Tweaks

  1. We loved this! I did do a couple of things differently though. First, I accidentally bought cream of broccoli soup instead of broccoli and cheese. So I just added about a half-cup of shredded cheese to the mixture. Next time, I'll add about a cup because it didn't taste very cheesy. I also forgot to put in the onion, so I threw in some onion powder. And I added carrots because for some reason it sounded good to me! :) And it was! This turned out great as it was, but next time, I'll use the right soup and the onion, and I know it will be even better!

I have two boys Eddie 18 and Brandon 10. I have been with my hubby for 16 years. I work full time outside the home and my boys keep me busy at home. These recipes will be made again and again. 4 Stars = Recipe was good, but needed some modifications or it was good but not something we would want on a regular basis.
