I rubbed the roast with some sprinkles of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. I placed a couple onion slices on the bottom of the crockpot. I used Dr. Pepper and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. In fact, I was in a hurry and turned the crock on high. The roast still turned out great. It tasted just like the bbq at a national bbq chain restaurant. Thanks for this recipe!

Wow! This was just unbelievable. I was afraid, reading a few other reviews that the Coke flavor would be too intense. However, it was really faint, but DELICIOUS! My mom and I adjusted a few things: First of all, we added some S and P (salt and pepper), just to allow the flavors to pop. I added a bottle of Bulls-Eye, and a few squirts of Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce (recipe #66518). It may seem like a lot of BBQ sauce, but this meat is so absorbent, it just drinks it up. Second, I used Caffeine Free Coca-Cola (a tip from my science teacher). Third, I cooked it in less time: During my snack break (when my mom lets me take a "brain break"), I poured the CF Coke over a beautiful pork roast Mom got yesterday. I let it go in the Crock-Pot on high for 6 hours, finishing it up on low for 1 hour, because when it did finish up, it was just falling apart. This is simply wonderful. We're having it for dinner tonight!

At first I didn't have success with this recipe as the 12 hours that the recipe says to cook was too long. So I tried it a second time a week later only cooking it about 8 hours total. Then I added the sauce after I took the meat out and shredded it and did not return it to the crock pot. And behold!!! A recipe that was a husband pleaser. This will become a staple in our household.

I live in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to run into Recipezaar around Nov. 2000 and got hooked quickly. I am a cookbook collector and have been collecting recipes for as long as I can remember. My DH had to build in shelves for all my cookbooks! I like to dabble with OAMC and for a few years hosted the Budget/OAMC forum with some great people over there. Even though I don't work in the forum any longer I've set up a lot of cookbooks for the purpose of OAMC and stretching food that might be helpful. Please feel free to check them out! I go on food jags and cooking jags! Please come say hi to me and chat on facebook. I currently host a blog for saving money through finding deals and coupons if you are interested. Most of the time I try to cook and have a good dinner on the table but I'll be honest enough to say there is still fast food occasionally in the budget! I have had such wonderful support here whenever I need it. Thank you all for being here! Just a quick note on how I rate recipes:
? 5 stars - This recipe is perfect. (My DH is truly a critic and doesn't give 5's unless it's amazing) I would recommend it to others and would definitely make again.
? 4 stars - This recipe was good but I would change something in it next time.
? 3 stars - This is a recipe I would not make again but it was OK
? 2 stars - This recipe I would not make again and we didn't like it at all
? 1 star - This recipes did not work out/taste was unappealing and wouldn't make again
