- 10 ounces mushrooms, sliced (white or cremini)
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1⁄2 cup beef broth, chicken broth or 1/2 cup vegetable broth
- 4 ounces dry white wine
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground sage
- 5 ounces sour cream
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt, to taste
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper, to taste
directions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet.
- Add the onions and cook on medium for about 7 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms and garlic, together with the broth, cover skillet and cook until the mushrooms are tender, stirring occasionally.
- Add the wine and spices and bring back to a gentle boil. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the sour cream and simmer until the sauce is thickened to desired consistency. (Add more broth or sour cream if needed to adjust consistency.).
- Serve immediately over pork, beef or chicken.
