  1. I have been looking for a recipe like this for a very long time. I happened to search Recipezaar in a panic after a late day at the office. I had all the ingredients on hand except the pasta. However I had some frozen cheese tortellini. What a wonderfuly combo. I made the recipe exactly as documented except that I also pureed the onions. Some family members don't like onions. (If they don't see them, life is good). Thank you for submitting this really good and flavorful recipe. I can think of a number of ways I can serve this in the future.

  2. This was very good--used FF cream cheese and added a few red pepper flakes just because we really happen to like it hot! The only thing was that the color freaked us out a tiny bit--we're just finicky (it's sort of pinkish). I don't know how you'd fix that! But the taste was nice! thanks for posting, lennie!

  3. This was good. I added some sugar and salt to balance the tomatoes. It wasn't really special, but it hit the spot and I had everything on hand. Only thing, is maybe next time I may cut down the amount of cream cheese. But thanks for sharing! I'm fussy with pasta cause I lived in Italy. I just can never seem to capture their flavor...that being said I am a novice cook!

  4. This turned out pretty good for me. I used fresh herbs and took some suggestions and added a garlic clove, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt. Even with these additions, I found it a bit bland. Next time I will increase the spices and add a little bit of sugar.

  5. We really enjoyed this pasta sauce. We found it made way more than 4 servings so I saved 1/2 for the next batch. The amounts stated would probably be enough for approx. 20-24 oz of pasta. Very easy & tasty recipe, thanks for sharing.

Tweaks

  1. Very good basic tomato sauce. I have enjoyed playing around with it. Have made it a couple of times and finally settled for adding 3 garlic cloves, 1/2tsp brown sugar, 1/4tsp salt and 3 dashes tabasco. Furthermore I have upped the spices to 1tsp oregano and 1/2tsp thyme. When Hubby wanted meat with the sauce I made it non-dairy by substituting the cream cheese for thick soy cream. As said, a very versatile good basic sauce. Thanks for posting.
