Colorful Broccoli Salad

Colorful Broccoli Salad created by Sharon123

This is an easy, & fun salad to make. Also an easy one for kids to make or help with. This looks great on the table--everyone loves it. Prep time depends on if you cook bacon or use jar. I used the prep time for making this with the jar. Also, the cook time is really the chill time.

Ready In:
50mins
Serves:
Units:

ingredients

  • 4 cups broccoli florets (fresh)
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked & crumbled (I usually use 1 jar of real bacon pieces to save time.)
  • 12 cup sweet red peppers or 1/2 cup yellow pepper
  • 1 1 cup sliced almonds (optional) or 1 cup raisins (optional)
  • Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise or 1 cup salad dressing
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar (I usually use red wine vinegar)

directions

  • Mix all top ingredients together in serving bowl.
  • In a small bowl mix sauce ingredients together until sugar is mostly dissolved.
  • Pour sauce over veggie mixture and toss until completely covered.
  • Chill at least 30 minutes before serving.

This broccoli salad was soooo delicious!!!! I just didnt add pepper or bacon, but used dried crannberries, and it got all eaten up. Thank you!! :)

Just the right amount of sweet in this salad! I was worried about adding the sugar to the salad because of a bad experience with potato salad I made recently that was way too sweet, but this was great! I added 1/2 of a sweet vadalia onion for added flavor and we were very pleased with the results. Delicious! Thanks for sharing. Mike

This is a very pretty and tasty salad. I used the jar bacon bits, and Splenda in the dressing. I am taking this to a potluck tonight. Whenever I make it, it is very popular!! Thanks, Nicole, for posting this keeper recipe!

Yummy, I love brocoli salad and the peppers in this were a nice twist on the usual. I used artificial bacon bits, and sunflower seeds instead of almonds, just because that's all I had on hand. Thanks Nicole!
