Colonial Brown Bread

"In colonial days they didn't have a whole lot of stuff to put into their baking. This one is like that. The first time I made it I didn't think that it would be very good, but found that it was sweet and great when toasted in the toaster and then spread it with lots of butter."

  1. I have been making this same recipe, which I found in a Gooseberry Patch Cookbook - Welcome Home For the Holidays- for years. It is a real crowd pleaser at my house - sweet and so yummy with butter or toasted. It is very easy. I just mix it up and pop it in the oven. I make the rest of the meal and and when I am finished, the bread is ready to go. You will love it too!
