Cinnamon Flop

"YUMMY and EASY! Kids and adults love it :) I don't remember where I got this recipe...I just have it written on an index card, but it has been requested of me many times. Makes 2 - 9 inch cakes, so there is enough to go around!"

 1. I made this for breakfast a couple days ago. I put the coffee on first thing when I got up, then slapped it together. The coffee was just finishing when I popped it in the oven. Made my husband's thermos, poured my first cup, put on another pot of coffee, then packed hubby's lunch. The "FLOP" was just ready to come out of the oven when I finished the lunch and got my husband up. He and I ate it warm out of the oven (he even wanted a piece added to his lunchbox), and the girls ate it room temperature when they got up. The family wiped it out entirely. Thumbs up from all of them!!!

 2. Oh YUM!!!! This "Flop" is a total "Thumbs Up"! What a neat treat for breakfast this a.m. So easy to put together and have ready in jig time! Dandy little recipe, Karen. We really enjoyed. Thanks so much for posting another winner. Laudee C.

 3. This was quick and easy. It's not as heavy or sweet as a crumb cake so it it nice for breakfast. I thought it tasted much better the next day rather than hot out of the oven. The only change I wade was to add a teaspoon of vanilla to the batter. When I want something quick, I will use this recipe again, but it will not replace my more flavorful crumb cake recipe when I have the extra time.

 4. Karen we flipped over your "Flop". This is one of my all time favorite Recipezaar recipes. I scaled the recipe back to make only one as there were just two of us and it came out fine.Easy to put together and the ingredients are ones we all have around. Thanks for a great recipe!

 5. This was easy to make and tastes great. Tossed it together as a quicky dessert and my DH loved it.

 1. I made this for my employees today. I made some changes (of course). I halved the recipe. Then I substituted wheat flour for white flour and I added a teaspoon of vanilla extract. It was pretty good. But the I added a powder sugar glaze - and that made it really good.

I live in Pa (outside of Philadelphia) and cooking, baking, cross-stitching and reading are my hobbies.

I collect cookbooks and cookie stamps/cutters and have a pretty big collection of both. I am also a fan of all things Amish, so I have quite a collection of things picked up in Reading, Lancaster and surrounding areas here in Pennsylvania.

I have 4 kids, who are the loves of my life and cooking for them and my husband keeps me on my toes! ;)

We bought an ice cream parlor in March 04 and it's been quite an experience!

Note: I love getting feedback on my recipes; all I ask is that you actually *make* them before reviewing them.

Also, if you make changes or substitutions, I'd love to see your suggestions and/or comments, but I'd appreciate no rating at all if it's not made as posted. Too many recipe reviews state margarine subbed for butter (if I list butter, it's REAL butter), different spices, low-fat ingredients, whole wheat flour instead of white, etc. The recipes will not work/taste as intended, so it's really not fair to rate them as such.

I'd also really appreciate it if you refrain from rating a recipe if you overcook or overbake it or it you don't refrigerate or store as listed.

I, of course, will adhere to the above when rating recipes, too!

Thanks and have a great day!

My Rating System:

***** A delicious recipe that was thoroughly enjoyed. It has excellent, detailed directions and is perfect as is. If a dish is especially easy, and I'm on the fence, I will give it 5* for ease even if it's very good instead of great. Something I will definitely make again.

**** Excellent recipe but confusing directions that I will make again in my own less confusing way OR Very good recipe that I'll probably make again if I find the time!

*** Good/OK recipe but probably not something I would make again OR Very Good recipe that doesn't have clear, detailed directions.

** Recipe was edible but not really enjoyed and will not be made again. Work involved not a good trade-off for the end result.

* Not edible and probably an error in the recipe. I feel that I pick recipes with ingredients our family likes, so in my opinion, there's an error somewhere. If there's a chance I made the error, I won't rate the recipe. ;)
