Chocolate Oh Henry Squares

Chocolate Oh Henry Squares created by Racquel S.

Very fast (top-of-the-stove) and scrumptious! You can freeze this (if you manage to not eat it all!) without the icing. I have been making this for years with great reviews!!

directions

  • Line a 9x9 inch pan with whole crackers, trimming to fit. Set aside.
  • Put butter, sugar and milk in saucepan. Bring to boil. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips. When chips have melted, add the crumbs and nuts. Stir to mix. Pour over crackers in pan.
  • Cover with whole graham crackers trimming to fit. Cool before frosting.
  • Icing: beat ingredients together in small bowl, adjusting liquid as needed. Spread over squares. Cover and allow to stand a few hours before cutting so the crackers will soften. Cut into 36 squares.

Great recipe and although it may also be in the Company's Coming cookbook, my family has made these since the 1970's so where they originated is unknown.

this is a great recipe that is out of the COMPANY'S COMING COOKBOOK : 150 DELICIOUS SQUARES. copyright 1985, 28th printing Dec 1993. I didn't see where they were given credit.

This is super easy, and is a good recipe to make with a child who wants to help, in my case an eager 7 yr old. :-) I made 1 1/2 times the recipe to fit into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Very yummy. My husband ate about 1/4 of the pan just today. I think next time I make them I will also add raisins to the mixture. Thanks, Redsie!
