directions

  • Cover Chicken breasts with bar-b-q sauce and bake until done, usually about 15-30 minutes in a 350 degree oven (I don't pay attention to the time too much) When chicken is done pour on more sauce, add bacon strips to cover the breasts and cover with cheddar cheese, return to oven until cheese melts.
  • Add sliced green onions and serve.

Questions & Replies

  1. I don't have any green onion, will regular onion work?

  1. I have had this two ways, the way as stated and grilled. I prefer the grilled way. It is so much better. You grill the chicken with the bbq sauce and then add extra when you put in the oven to melt the cheese. We cooked the bacon in the skillet to get it nice a crunchy and didn't top it until the chicken came out of the oven. Super YUMMY!

  2. Here's how I made it. Baked frozen breasts for 50 minutes at 375 (topped with a little sauce). Then added more sauce, bacon bits and put it back in the oven until the cheese melted. Topped with the onion. Served it with homemade mashed red skinned potato salad and my kids and husband loved it!

  3. Great flavor, changed a few things. Seasoned the chicken with poultry seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper. Browned them in a pan with butter and evoo. Spread Baby Rays Ray's Honey B B Q sauce over them. Baked 10 minutes, added Boars Head 3 pepper cheese over top, followed with some low salt bacon strips, and returned to a turned off oven for 5 minutes. They had a nice touch of smoke from the bacon, a little heat from the cheese, and a tad of sweetness from the B B Q Sauce. The better half and I both enjoyed these very much, will make again. Simple and easy! Thanks Wende.

  4. WONDERFUL!!! I work at Chili's, and we actually serve this EXACT dish at the resturaunt, only they call it "Monterey Chicken" Well, I gave this one a shot, the only change I made was to 86 the onions, and use colby-jack instead of cheddar, but it was awesome. Thank you for posting this recipe!! LOVE IT!

  4. I was short on time so instead of using boneless skinless breasts, I used frozen microwavable breaded chicken patties. It turned out great. Made the entire dish in the microwave.
