Carol's Crockpot Beef Stew

DIRECTIONS

  • Heat canola oil in an electric skillet, at medium high heat.
  • Add beef cubes and brown on one side.
  • Turn beef cubes and add onion and garlic to the skillet.
  • Sprinkle with salt pepper, Montreal Steak Seasoning, and thyme.
  • Layer vegetables into crock pot in order listed. (Hard root vegetables should always go in the bottom of a crockpot.).
  • Add browned beef, onion, and garlic on top of the vegetables.
  • Dissolve bullion in hot water and pour over ingredients in crockpot.
  • Place cover on crockpot and cook on low for 8 hours. Do not stir or lift lid.
  • When stew is finished cooking, mix cold water and cornstarch in a small bowl and slowly stir into stew to thicken.
