Bright, Light Buttermilk Syrup

- 3⁄4 - 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
directions
- Place first five ingredients in a large saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and cook for 7 minutes (mixture will foam), stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Serve warm on pancakes, waffles or french toast.

I remember my mom let me bake cookies by myself for the first time when I was five. I was hooked from that time.
