  1. Wonderful! Just like my mother used to make. I have been looking for this recipe. Thank you.

  2. I have been searching for a bread pudding that my mother made when I was a child and I thought this was it. It wasn't what I had remembered but it was good. I would definitely cut down on the nutmeg and cinnamon, it was alittle overpowering for my family.

  3. I've made this 2 times now. The first time I used cubed hard rolls and almost came back to give it a 1-2 star rating. Hard rolls were a bad idea! It tasted like bland, dry french toast. But since the directions just said "bread", I figured any kind was OK. I had a feeling I used the wrong bread so I tried it again before rating. Second time I used plain white bread, and it came out great. I sprayed that dish instead of using butter. I sprinkled a little ground chocolate on the top with the raisins, and it was really good like that. My 6 year old son LOVES this! I'm also making it for my dad on Saturday. I'm very happy with it, but I think the directions should be more clear on the type of bread to use. Thanks for this recipe!

  4. Absolutely the very best! No question about it ... This bread pudding is so easy to toss together and bake, and great, because all of the ingredients are always on hand. I left out the raisins, otherwise, followed your easy directions. Fabulous, Dee! Thanks for posting a real winner!! Laudee

  5. This is a near match for the recipe in my old Betty Crocker cookbook from 1967. Double the nutmeg and cinnamon for an exact match, which is what I did. I like to top it with Vanilla Sauce #16132 with 1/2 tsp. nutmeg added. Wonderful made with stale homemade white bread.
