Bran Squares

"I got this recipe from a friend of mine about 16 years ago. I thought they were delicious and made them several times. I was so excited when I came across this recipe while looking through 100's of recipes I have clipped, saved and copied over the years. I will be making this again real soon!"

  1. Bakes these for church coffee morning..they all dissapeared. DH was unsure about them, not being a lover of Branflakes, but went on to eat all the ones I'd left at home, so they can't have been that bdd!! lol

  2. Great recipe for extra fiber, my DH loved these bars! I added in some raisins too. I plan on making more soon, great recipe, thanks Chef Mommie!...Kitten:)

  3. These were soooooooo good! I will definitely make them again. My little boy loved them as well!

  4. These are so good! I didn't see 40% bran flakes at the grocery, so I used another brand of bran flakes. Other than skipping the raisins and adding extra bran flakes, I followed the recipe--thanks for posting it!

  5. Oh I definitely like the simplicity of this one! They were quite nice. I thought they seemed a bit dense, so maybe I might use self-raising flour next time and see what happens, but it could just be because of my substitutions. I grated 1 carrot in and used 1/2 wholemeal flour, and sprinkled almonds on top and added almond essense to make it some sort of carrot-almond-sultana bran slice. So it's not really the recipe's fault, but at least I can rate it high for a great starting place! Thankyou! :)
