- 2 cups elbow macaroni (dry)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
- 2 1⁄2 cups milk
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1⁄4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon paprika
directions
- Cook and drain elbow macaroni.
- Meanwhile, in saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat; blend in flour, salt, mustard and pepper. Return to heat, gradually add milk, stirring constantly until sauce thickens slightly.
- Add 1 1/2 cup of shredded cheese; and stir until cheese is melted.
- Combine sauce mix and drained macaroni in a lightly greased 2 quart casserole and mix.
- Sprinkle bread crumbs and paprika over top of macaroni with remaining cheese.
- Bake in preheated 375F oven about 20 to 25 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
