directions

  • Use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the steaks, and place steaks in a large baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix together beer, teriyaki sauce, and brown sugar.
  • Pour sauce over steaks, and let sit about 15-30 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 the seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder; set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Turn steaks over, sprinkle with remaining seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and continue marinating for 10 more minutes.
  • Remove steaks from marinade. Pour marinade into a small saucepan, bring to a boil, and cook for several minutes.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill steaks for 7 minutes per side, or to desired doneness. During the last few minutes of grilling, baste steaks with boiled marinade to enhance the flavor and ensure juiciness.

  1. This came together quickly and easily. I marinated the steaks about an hour--I used 2 ribeyes, and didn't use garlic powder because I didn't have any. I used Corona because that's what I had on hand. I served with sauteed onions and peas. The steak was tender, but tasted strongly like liver to me. My BF liked it really well, but I probably won't make it again unless he asks for it because I'm not a big fan of liver. Maybe a different beer would result in a different final flavor.

  2. We had this for dinner tonight and thought that the marinade was delicious. I marinaded it for about 2hours. We really enjoyed the sweetness of the brown sugar! Used Guiness for the beer. Made for Spring PAC 2011. Thanks for sharing!

Currently working as a mental health provider for the US Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. I work in Deployment Health - counseling military members returning from war. I was a bartender for 13 years (so the move over to counseling was not too great a leap...) and when I have time, love to write. My passion is travel - especially to tropical locales and eating is also one of my favorite pastimes. As a result of the eating pastime, working out is one of my not- so-favorite, but very necessary, hobbies. I moved to Okinawa Japan 11 years ago (May 2006) and hope to be here until I get tired of the place (after that who knows?!). I love cooking but wish I had a sous chef and a dishwasher to do all the dirty work!
