- 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into one inch cubes
- 6 cups water
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 6 potatoes, cut into chunks
- 6 carrots, sliced
- 2 stalks celery, sliced (optional)
- 1 -2 cup onion, chopped
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 bay leaves
- cold water
- 1⁄4 cup flour or 1/4 cup cornstarch
directions
- Simmer beef in water 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
- Stir in veggies and spices. Simmer another 30 minutes until tender.
- Mix cold water and flour together and stir into hot stew. Boil and stir one minute, stirring constantly.
- Serve with bread and butter.
