- 1 large head red cabbage, washed and coarsely sliced
- 6 tart apples, cored & quartered
- 2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups hot water
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 2⁄3 cup cider vinegar
directions
- Place all the ingredients into the crock pot.
- Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours or high 3 hours.
- Stir well before serving.

Oh wow...this was so so so delicious! It does make a lot; I halved the recipe and it was just about right for my 6 quart pot. My only variation from the recipe was that I used a whole (very small) cabbage instead of half a large one. This was so addictive; I keep going past the crock pot for one more bite LOL. It is great with hot buttered noodles. Thanks for posting!! Made for Veg*n Swap #21.

Wonderful aroma while cooking! This made too much to fit into my 6 qt crockpot so be sure to have a very large crockpot or make a half recipe. I think that next time I'll saute the onions before adding for a more mellow flavour and perhaps add some cloves and bay leaf. Thanks for sharing. I love red cabbage.
