  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Mix all dry ingredients together.
  • Add egg, milk and oil to dry mixture and blend well.
  • Pour into 8 inch square pan.
  • Bake 30-35 minutes until slightly brown on top.
  • Serve hot or cold with butter, honey or preserves.

  1. This recipe is great. I made a few tweaks of my own. While adding the baking area, I thought it was alot so only used 4 Tbsp instead of 6. Also to add some nice texture and richness to the johnny cake- i mixed white and wheat flour (3 cups white flour, 3 cups wheat flour).<br/>With that said, it turned out great. It was soft and delicious. I'm saving this recipe for life!
