  • Place cooked rice in the bottom of a well greased 10x6 baking dish.
  • Top with sliced asparagus.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan; blend in flour.
  • Add evaporated milk and water; cook until thickened.
  • Turn off heat.
  • Add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add cheese and ham.
  • Pour over rice mixture.
  • Sprinkle with almonds.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.

  1. Lovely tasting one dish meal and I do love those. I would make this again but the next time I'll par-boil the asparagus a bit. Mine was very small size spears and even being cut into about 3/4 inch lengths it was still quite hard when the dish was done. I used more cheese than ask for just because I like a really cheesy cheese sauce. All in all a very nice dinner with a green side salad.
