- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2⁄3 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1⁄8 teaspoon clove
- 1 cup applesauce
- 1 egg
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

I chose this because I liked the list of ingredients; however the directions could have been a little better written. I used a combination of whole wheat pastry flour and regular flour. The sugar was reduced to 1/2 cup and a combination of Splenda and white sugar was used. With 1 cup of applesauce I felt that the butter could be reduced. The butter was reduced by half. The cake was baked in a 8x8 inch square pan at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. The cake with moist and delicious. Made for *Comfort Cafe*
