DIRECTIONS

  • CAKE:
  • Save the last 4 ingredients for the frosting.
  • Stir together flour, baking soda, salt, nutmeg. cloves,and cinnamon.
  • Beat butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Combine buttermilk and applesauce.
  • Add alternately with the flour mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  • Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans.
  • Bake at 350* for 35-40 minute
  • Remove from pans.
  • Cool thoroghly on cake racks.
  • Frost cooled cake with Creamy Vanilla Frosting.

  • In a small bowl, Combine butter, milk, vanilla and sugar.(Last 4 ingredients of list).
  • Mix until frosting is smooth and shiny.
  • If Consistency is too thick.
  • Add a few drops of milk.
  • Frost cooled Applesauce Layer Cake.
