ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1⁄2 cup white sugar
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1⁄2 cups quick oats
- 1⁄2 cup nuts, chopped
directions
- Cream together sugars, shortening, egg, salt, soda and vanilla.
- Blend in remaining ingredients. Dough will be stiff.
- Press into greased pan.
- Bake 20 - 25 minutes at 350º in a 9 x 13 pan.

Newly retired. Planning to cook more often with the extra time I have. My husband loves my kielbasa, kraut, and dumpling recipe. I also make a great pancake and apple dojun. I am known for burning the buns at holidays. Hmm. Favorite restaurant has to be the Harbour Haus in Copper Harbor, MI.
