- Yields:
-
1 packet equivalent
ingredients
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 1⁄4 teaspoons paprika
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 3⁄4 teaspoon dried onion flakes
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cumin
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne
- 1⁄4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon sugar
- 1⁄8 teaspoon ground oregano
directions
- Mix ingredients.
- Pour over browned, ground meat (or shredded, cooked meat) in a pan over medium heat.
- I'm sorry I don't have an amount of water to recommend adding to the seasoning. I usually just wing it and then simmer it down if I get too carried away with the water. I think about a half cup?.
- Simmer until it looks good!
- Dig it.

EXCELLENT!!! First of all, I LOVE the fact all the ingredients to make this Taco Seasoning I always have on hand! I made this as directed, but using 3/4 cup water as Klyn did. My husband and I both have high blood pressure, plus my husband cannot tolerate heat like I can. We both like the fact that we can control the salt and heat content of the Taco Seasoning. After finishing dinner, my husband said the tacos tasted better than the packaged stuff, it had a very nice balance of spices. For me, I like mine a little hotter, so I just added jarred sliced jalapeno peppers. No more packaged stuff in our house anymore. Thank you, Melissa, for sharing your recipe with us!!

Another great recipe! (Can't get by without my Recipezaar~). I had tried other recipes for this seasoning before with no luck, but this one is absolutely perfect! I used it last evening in Recipe #280905 (used this full receipe in the Idaho Tacos, adding 2/3 cup water to the meat mixture). Thank you for a great recipe!
