It wasn't the best aloo keema, but it was a good effort. I had a few problems with it, for example who puts tomatoes in aloo keema? It just doesn't make sense. This is coming from a Pakistani that has lived in Pakistan for his whole life. Sorry to tell you, BUT THIS RECIPE IS TRASH, YOU NEED TO FIX IT BEFORE YOU POISON SOMEONE! Just some advice ;)

Very delicious, especially for something this simple to make. Like many of us, I'm trying to avoid going to the store, so I used what I had at home. Ground turkey instead of beef or lamb, canned tomatoes instead of fresh, garlic-ginger paste instead of fresh. The turkey worked really well with all the spices. I added curry leaves, since I happened to have some. The only modification in cooking I made was to bloom the spices first before stirring them into the meat - I just pushed the meat to the sides and tossed the spices into the center of the skillet. I probably used a bit more potato, did not bother weighing, but I like potatoes. Definitely a satisfying dish. Oh, and my sister used sweet potatoes instead of regular, and that was really good, too.

This was really tasty, however I altered it quite a bit. I added 1 tbsp of both ginger and garlic instead of 1 tsp, added peas, used half tinned tomatoes and some tomato paste like previous commenter, only added half the water, added 2 tsp of cardamon, and increased the other spices. Served with tumeric rice and it was delicious. Would be a little bland if I hadn't oomphed up the spices.
