When I first saw this recipe a huge smile crossed my face...and now I remember why! This was the drink of choice for our "group" in the early 80's, some wild times are associated with this tasty drink! I made them and didn't tell the Dh what it was, but just one sip and he was all smiles too! It takes exactly the way I remember them! We ended up quadrupling the recipe and drank IT ALL! So good! Thanks for the recipe and the memories...we will be making these often!

I used to play softball for, and DJ at a local bar/bowling alley. To get more ball players in the bar after the games, the owner had a "spin the wheel" special and this drink was among the specials. After trying one for the first time, I have to admit that a strange phenomenon occurred... that drink when usually stopped on Alabama Slammers! Amazing how that wheel always seemed to land on that spot just when I needed a cool and very tasty drink. ;)

This is one of my favourite drinks! It's been my signature drink for years! I like to make mine with vodka instead of the gin. For a single serving in a large glass, I use 1/2 oz southern comfort, 1/2 oz amaretto, 1/2 oz vodka, splash of grenadine, and top up with orange juice. Looks nice with a garnish of orange slice and maraschino cherry. Enjoy!
