Maraschino cherry

Nutrition

A specially treated cherry, any variety, although the Royal Ann cherry is most common. The cherries are pitted then macerated in a flavored sugar syrup (almond flavor for red cherries and mint for green cherries). At one time they were traditionally flavored with maraschino liqueur. The cherries are then dyed red or green.
