Nutcracker Peppermint Red Velvet Cake Pops

What's more seasonal than peppermint hot chocolate and watching The Nutcracker? Combining the two to create these peppermint red velvet cake pops, of course.

The First Step towards Greatness

Give your little nutcrackers a nice smooth coat of red chocolate to get the party started.

Create the Helmet

Using a little extra fondant, make a helmet brim and paint it gold.

GET THE GOLD

Adding food-safe gold paint to your cake pops will give them an instant regal shine.

EMBELLISHMENTS

Roll a tiny ball of black fondant between your fingers to form a small log, add it to the top of the pop as a tassel. Use three golden dragées per hat for extra texture and flare.

ADD EYES & HAIR

Keep it easy with store bought frosting for both the hair and eyes! Fit your piping bag with the open star tip, and add the white frosting. Beginning on either side of the rim of the hat, pipe lines of frosting to look like the hair coming out from under the helmet. Then, pipe and swirl the frosting to create the curls, Repeat on both sides of the face.

PAINT IT UP

Paint the design in the middle of the jacket. Then use the black decorating icing to pipe around it, as well as to pipe the outline for each sleeve. Pipe the sleeve designs, or get creative with your own.

ADD THE LITTLE HANDS

Just roll two little balls of the fondant and use a little water to attach them at the bottom of each sleeve.

SO FETCH

For a fancy (and yummy) final touch, pipe a little more of the white frosting across the bottom of each cake pop and sprinkle them with extra crushed peppermint.

Peppermint Red Velvet Dreams

Voila: Now you have an army of fantastic nutcrackers all dressed up and ready to attend any holiday party.
