It’s Almost Prime Day! Here’s What You Need to Know
Prepare yourself, and your kitchen.
It may not be Prime Day until 3pm EST on Monday July 16th, but that doesn’t mean there’s any time to waste. We figured out the best way to prep yourself for this epic spending spree, so just follow our handy guide and you’ll be set for an (almost) full-scale kitchen reno the moment the sales start rolling in, through end of day on July 17th.
1 Sign up for Prime
As simple as this first step seems, you’ve got to start somewhere and Prime Day is only available to Prime members after all. If you plan on buying anything, it’s worth it, but it’s an especially great deal if you love music, movies, avoiding grocery shopping and even planning for big life events (and by that we mean registries).
Remember, if you’re not a member, you can start with a 30-day free trial and there is no better time than the present!
2 Make a list
What does your heart most desire? What does your mom absolutely need for her kitchen? Think through the things you’ve been dying to buy and list them out. The best way to do this pre-Prime day? Via an Amazon wishlist of course!
3 Download the Amazon App
While this isn’t a must, it does give you some sneak peeks and previews to the content going on sale July 16th.
4 Watch your coveted deals!
It’s easy to track the things you REALLY want, there’s even a video to walk you through the steps. Watch it — it’ll help you find the best of the best without overindulging on impulse buys.
5 Make space
After the Instant Pot went on sale last year, we (and everyone who has ever struggled with too many appliances) haven't been able to stop thinking about it. So now is the time to ditch the tools you no longer use to make room for whatever glorious sale items catch your eye.
Start by doing a little kitchen inventory and donating or sell the gadgets you're no longer using. This way you can feel guilt-free when those Prime Day boxes arrive. And here’s a pro tip — the Echo Dot takes up zero space and is an A+ kitchen assistant.
6 Go grocery shopping
Sounds easy enough right? It just so happens that if you shop at Whole Foods on (or even before!) Prime Day you’ll get even more deals.
Here are some of our faves:
• Spend $10, get $10 — if you spend $10 at Whole Foods between July 11th and 17th you’ll get a $10 Amazon credit for Prime Day.
• Get 10% back on your purchases when you use your Amazon Prime Rewards visa, so stock up on staples that you can use with your brand-new (very affordable) kitchen tools.
• Save even more with sweet deals from July 11-17 like these:
- Organic strawberries, 1 lb. container, 2/$5
- Lesley Stowe Raincoast Crisps, 3 oz., $4.99
- Honey Nut Cheerios, buy one, get one free
